Japanese Meiji Period Mixed Metals Small Dish A Monkey Rowing A Conch Shell:
A Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912) small trinket dish depicting a clothed monkey rowing a conch shell with a stylised wave in the back ground.
The dish is made from different coloured metals including copper, brass, bronze and white metal to the reverse. The dish stands on three little feet shaped as shells: a barnacle, a clam and another shell with sea weed swirling around it.
The dish measures 10 cm long X 8 cm wide and weighs 96 grams.
There is some corrosion which can be seen to one edge on the back.
