Description

Maki-e (literally sprinkled picture) is Japanese lacquer sprinkled with gold or silver powder as a decoration using a makizutsu or a kebo brush. The technique was developed mainly in the Heian Period (794–1185) and blossomed in the Edo Period (1603–1868). Maki-e objects were initially designed as household items for court nobles, they soon gained more popularity and were adopted by royal families and military leaders as an indication of power.

Japanese lacquerware (historically referred to as Japan, analogous to Chinese ceramics) is a broad category of fine and decorative arts, as lacquer has been used in paintings, prints, and on a wide variety of objects from Buddha statues to bento boxes for food.

A number of terms are used in Japanese to refer to lacquerware. Shikki means "lacquer ware" in the most literal sense, while nurimono means "coated things", and urushi-nuri means "lacquer coating."

SAL post is not available to some countries like Korea, Taiwan, Romania, Bulgaria, etc ...so please make sure of the shipping price before you offer.

If your country not on the list please contact me and make sure of the shipping price before you offer.

These days there are some troubles with SAL mail especially to Asia.

If you are from Asia, South America, Africa and the Middle east, I will only send your item by SAL with tracking number or EMS post!

So you will get a new invoice for the extra shipping price of SAL mail which will be between $2~$10 additional to the regular price, depending on the country.

Please understand about this situation, if you offer on an item it means you have read and approved these conditions.

SAL(Surface air lifted, economy airmail)

●Delivery time is rated between 2-5 weeks.

●No insurance or tracking service is available.(We will not be responsible in case of breakage or loss.)

●SAL is not recommended to the USA as sometimes can take 2 months. SAL is set as default shipping in our listings, if you would like EMS post please let us know and we will send you a new invoice.

●It is impossible to trace the package.

●For the SAL registered mail additional cost + US$4.00 is required.

EMS(Express mail service)

●This is the best and fastest mail service.

●Delivery time is about 1week, includes insurance and tracking number. We will give you the tracking number online, once we have sent out your parcel.

Combined Shipment

●We can combine shipping to save you on shipping cost if you purchase more than 1 item from us depending on the total weight and size of parcel.

●If you wish to offer on more items please notify us so that we can wait to combine items. (SAL mail is possible up to 2kg)

●Please note that some items CANNOT be combined, for example a statue and a scroll because the parcel becomes too fragile, please understand.

Important

●Important duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility.

●We will not be responsible for delays due to customs.

●Impossible to trace Sal mail.

●We usually send by SAL to save the shipping cost for customers. But in some cases, it takes nearly 2 months.

●SAL basically has neither insurance nor tracking service available, so we can’t take any responsibility in case loss or breakage. But in case of registered SAL (additional US$4.00 is required), in the event that parcel is lost or damaged, you may claim a compensation up to US$55.00.

Shop Policy

●We offer scrolls that are usually hand-painted, signed and stamped by the artist, and sometimes we offer famous artist’s scrolls. However please judge for yourself about the truth or falsehood of this painting. Please look carefully at the pictures to see the paintings condition.
