A Beautiful Neoclassical Directiore style patinated bronze clock with applied gilt bronze clockdecorations. Great original condition and in fine working order. The enamel dial ring is signed Laurin Bale. Bale is the old French way to spell Basel in Switzerland. The movement has the Japy Freres medallion and a countwheel & bellstrike. The case is in exceptional condition ...sans a bit of dust with original patina. The fine hand painted enameled dial has one of the tiniest hairlines about 1/4 inch long just before the VII. Check the photo, it is very hard to see. I onlymentionit in the interest of fulldisclosure.It is a very stately clock, not overdone like so many other Japy Freres clocks from the late 19th century. this clock is well over a hundred years old.
