Jerry Parr Signed Photo - Secret Service Agent - Ronald Reagan Shooting Attempt For Sale
Ronald Reagan Secret Service Agent JERRY PARR Autographed Photo
Here is a professionally printed 4x6 photo signed by Jerry Parr, one of the secret service agents protecting President Reagan on the day of his assassination attempt on March 30, 1981, and may have saved the President's life.
Parr's interest in joining the Secret Service originated as a boy after watching "Code of the Secret Service" (1939) starring Ronald Reagan as agent "Brass Bancroft".
On March 30, 1981, John Hinckley, Jr. opened fire on newly elected President Reagan as Reagan exited the Washington Hilton Hotel after giving a speech. Upon hearing gun shots, Parr pushed Reagan into the President's limousine and landed on top of him (causing the President to swear).
At first, the limo started heading to the White House, but Parr noticed that Reagan was bleeding, and immediately ordered the limousine to go to the hospital.
It turned out the sixth and final bullet fired by Hinckley had ricocheted off the armored presidential limousine and entered the side of Reagan's abdomen, and stopped about an inch from Reagan's heart. Doctors would later say that Parr's quick decision to go straight to the hospital saved Reagan's life.
This autograph is hard to find, and would be a great addition to any autograph or history collection.
