On April 18, 1942, Jimmy Doolittle and his crew and 15 other aircraft took off form the aircraft carrier U.SS Hornet to conduct a daring raid on Tokyo and other Japanese cities. Doolittle and his crew had to bail out after the mission and were rescued in China. This raid provided a great boost to American morale. Pictures in the photo left to right are Staff Sgt. F.A.
