John F. Kennedy (jfk) Rare Hand Signed/autographed Book From The 1960 Campaign:
Acquired from a Hollywood, Florida estate collection of Kennedy items that also included a book signed by Bobby Kennedy during the same month of October in 1960... This is a first edition copy of "The Strategy of Peace" hand signed in ink by future President Kennedy while on the 1960 campaign trail and just two weeks before the presidential election. On the same page at the upper left hand corner is the date: "10-18-1960" and "Mia International Airport". I have confirmed that JFK made at least 6 campaign appearances in Florida on this date and the book was obviously signed at his arrival or departure at the airport. Original in-person Kennedy signatures are rare as most are either secretary signed or auto-pen.The book itself is in good condition, has no writing on the interior pages, has the original dust cover, covered by an additional clear dust jacket. As shown in the photo's, the book shows yellowing and aging as would be expected in a book that has been stored away for over 50 years. Most of the books signed by JFK were actually secretarial signed and those few he actually did sign were copies of his best known book "Profiles in Courage". "Strategy of Peace" was released in 1960 to coincide with Kennedy's run for President at the height of the Cold War. Signed copies of this particular book are the rarest of all Kennedy authored books.
The autograph was signed in ballpoint pen ink and is upside down on the inside back cover- indicating the book was handed to JFK in a hurry and he signed the wrong end of the book.
