3 signed letters by John Saunders, English novelist and dramatist. The first dated June 23, 1855 is five pages and is a critique of a play of his. You can read it yourself (some of the words are difficult to figure out.) Excerpts from the first page include: "My Dear Sir. The mistake in the acting of my play on the first night characterized by Mr. Brickstone himself as 'dictatorial' have been too great to be remedied.....disturbing the great opinion of it, there have been almost everywhere expressed in the public arena and in private circles night after night the play has been ..." Good condition with some tape used in the center page to in effect bind the letter years ago. The second letter dated July 14, 1855 also discusses one of his plays. "In confidence allow me to mention a few facts relating to my play. Mr. Sullivan in writing mistook my meaning...." It continues for 2 more pages and you can read it for yourself. The third letter dated April 5, 1855 is one page and marked "Private &Confidential reads 'My dear Sir You will be pleased to hear after many delays and anxieties thanks mainly to Mr. Dickens...it is accepted for the Haymarket...."
