Josephine Baker Folies Bergere Program 1926-1927.Own a piece of history !! This is the program for the 1926 - 1927 season
at the Folies Bergere which established Josephine Baker as an international superstar.The iconic cover is an ultramarine blue with gold
lettering on the cover 9.5" X 13 with a die cut hole showing a semi nude Josephine and when you open it you have a full page of J.B in
her fan dance outfit.
40 pages of outstanding semi nude productions,gorgeous costumes and plenty of photos of Josephine in her famous
acts including the infamous banana skirt from Danse Sauvage.
"Her career thrived in the integrated Paris society; when La Revue Nègre closed, Josephine starred in La Folie du Jour at the Follies-
Bergère Theater. Her jaw-dropping performance, including a costume of 16 bananas strung into a skirt, cemented her celebrity status.
Josephine rivaled Gloria Swanson and Mary Pickford as the most photographed woman in the world, and by 1927 she earned more than
any entertainer in Europe. She starred in two movies in the early 1930s, Zou-Zou and Princess Tam-Tam, and moved her family from St.
Louis to Les Milandes, her estate in Castelnaud-Fayrac, France. "
Condition
The cover has some surface wear and dirt around the outside edges.Bottom 5" of cover is separated.The cover would not
photograph correctly.It is an uniform ultramarine blue.The photo of the edge is more true.On The cover phto she has a small white spot
on her cheek and a small black spot on her left arm.Also a small sticker mark on inside cover.On The color photo there is a water mark
by the left edge and some surface dirt along the bottom.Also an small 1/2 inch tear in the middle right side of the page.Slight water stain
goes through the first 12 pages,it is in the center of the bottom and does not affect any of the pictures.Look closely at the Fatou photo.
the back cover has a little surface wear.Other then that all the pages are very nice.No loose pages.Sold AS IS.
