Junkers Aviation Bond - WW2 & Mint 1000 Reichsmark

Junkers was a major German aircraft manufacturer & founded by Hugo Junkers, one of Germany's great and innovative aviation pioneers. Feast your eyes on the large scans. This company produced over 22,000 planes for the Third Reich. More information below.

This Bond was engraved & printed by Giesecke & Devrient Banknote Company – the design and detail is just stunning. A4 Sized & 4 pages!

The sentence at the top of the bond says, ‘Flugzeug-und Motorwerke Aktiengeselschaft’ which translates: 'Aircraft engine company works joint-stock'. This bond is a scarce and totally genuine historical treasure. This bond was issued in November 1942 and hand signed!

One of the best known Junkers planes was the JU 87 Dive Bomber, which could carry a 500kg bomb! 6,500 of these were produced by Junkers. The company produced many bomber variants like the JU 88 pictured below which could carry up to 3000 kgs of bombs! Late in the war, they produced a truly innovative Turbo-jet engine fighter. In total Junkers produced over a staggering 22,000 planes!

This bond has four signatures and a rare embossed Junkers corporate seal with the logo shown above! The bond opens up in 4 pages & is in almost perfect mint & crisp condition but for a single small cancellation hole. Every page is completely covered in a unique watermark. This is visible when held up to the light and is on every variety of Third Reich Bond I have ever seen. The bond is transferred to the Bank der Deutschen Luftfahrt (Bank of German Aviations!) on November 2, 1942.

Below these pictures, is a brief and sad history of Hugo Junkers. Much more information is available online.

The JU-88 Bomber

Hugo Junkers planes flew late in WW1 & WW2. Both Governments over two wars, pressured Hugo to go into war plane production. This caused many conflicts, because Hugo was a socialist but also a pacifist, (against war).

In WW1 the German Government took control over Anthony Fokkers Aircraft company and kept him as director. They later also forced Hugo Junkers to join him. Fokker provided the war machine with many memorable planes.

Fast forward to the new Nazi regime. They wanted control of his factories, his patents, and his airlines. Hugo died on his 76th birthday on February the 3rd 1935. He was under house arrest by the Nazis, who essentially stole his company and many patents. Of course officials kept this conflict very quiet! He was told to hand over the company & patents or go to prison.

This is an item you can hand down to your children – Superb!
