Measures 2 1/4\" diameter, 2 1/2\" tall
Box has a handsome hammered finish with carved black ebony wood knob

Ebony knob unscrews and allows access to the interior to place a roll of stamps; there is a slot for the available stamp. There is an initial \"S\" that has been applied above the slot. I am assuming that this would be the initial of the owner. The bottom is hallmarked \"HAND WROUGHT STERLING KALO SB 2\" as well as an engraved date \"September 18, 1966\".

Founded in Chicago in 1900 by Clara P. Barck, the Kalo studio name comes from the Greek word meaning \"to make beautiful\". The original artists of Kalo were allwomen who had studied at the Art Institute in Chicago. The body of work created by the Kalo Studio over the next 70 years is revered as some of the finest from the Arts & Crafts Movement.
