For sale is an absolutely stunning original oil on board painting done by Karl Von Weidhofer. This painting depicts a desert scene, the Mojave desert if I\'m not mistaken, in bright vibrant colors. Showing mountains, sky, ground, cacti, flowers, plants and bloom, this is an incredible example of his work. Some of his work that fetches higher prices tend to be dull and less technical. This is complex for his work and a must for any art collector, or appreciator of beautiful and skilled artwork. The painting itself is in fantastic condition. No rips, cracks, chips, smudges, tears, deep cuts or scratches. Its signed in lower right hand corner. The painting was done between 1960 - 1970 when most of his similar work is done. His desert scenes are the most sought after and collectable. On the back, the original brown paper is still intact around the frame with no rips or tears. The painting still has the original label from his California studio stating his contact information, location and stating his paintings are original oil paintings only. The frame is also beautiful and to my understanding is its original frame. There is very minimal scuffing on the frame and is in great condition. All condition is pictured closely for easy to see detail. Don\'t miss out on this exceptional painting. The framed size measures 19.5 x 16.5 inches and the painting itself measures 16 x 13 inches. Karl Weidhofer was born in East Prussia, Germany on June 8, 1920. Weidhofer was in the German army when captured by the Russians during WWII. While imprisoned for four years, he was taught to paint by a fellow prisoner. After the war he was reunited with his family in Bavaria. He married and in 1954 moved to southern California. For many years he worked as a lab technician for Pomona Tile Company while painting in his leisure. In 1968 he became a full-time artist and began exhibiting his painings in art shows held in malls and parks in southern California and the Southwest. Weidhofer died at his home in Pine Grove, CA on Nov. 3, 2001. Best known for his desert landscapes.
