Vintage solid sterling silver teapot by L. Maciel. The Maciel Silver Factory in Mexico City, began operation in 1930. The company produced high quality silverware and jewelry, and had an outstanding reputation. Their silver is highly sought after by collectors. Maciel stopped production in 1970, which has increased the value of these high quality collectibles.
It is clearly marked on the bottom: L. Maciel, Made in Mexico, Sterling, 0.925. It is numbered 1565, along with the number 9 and a T.
This is a beautiful piece in very good condition with a beautiful patina. It is 8” tall to the top of its’ hinged lid, and weighsapproximately 40troy ounces. There are 2 small ivory bands in the handle, and part of one of the ivory bands is missing. A silver flower and leaves adorn the top of the hinged lid.
