Initial glass production was to supply stained glass for churches which was not eminently successful, and forced a re-evaluation of the Blenko glass strategy. The operations were run by William John Blenko until his passing in 1933, at which point, ownership began a family progression that still exists today. When William J. Blenko passed in 1933, William H. Blenko Sr. took over the responsibilities of the company. He became the President, and presided over the steady growth Blenko experienced for 30 years. William H. Blenko Sr. passed in 1969, but his wife Marion Blenko continued to work seven days a week, as she had from 1923 until her passing in 1989, serving as Treasurer, Secretary and retail sales manager. Stewardship of Blenko then passed to son William H. Blenko Jr., and again to son Richard D. Blenko, fourth generation President, joining the company in 1976. He pioneered explosive growth by energetically promoting Blenko Glass and the art that goes into hand blown glass through many venues including Public Broadcast Television. Richard D. Blenko passed the torch to Walter J. Blenko Jr. in 2003, who is the current President and part owner of Blenko Glass Company, along with William H. Blenko Jr. (the son of Wm Sr. & Marion). from 1929 on, Blenko entered the decorative & household glassware market. Though the operations were run by William John Blenko, stewardship of Blenko development and design was ably handled in turn by a number of remarkable glass artisans including hand blown glass masters, Louis Miller, Axel Muller, Winslow Anderson (1946-53), Wayne Husted (1952-63), Joel Philip Myers (1963-70), John Nickerson (1970-74), Don Shepherd (1974-87), Hank Adams (1988-94), Trey Gott (1995-96), and Matt Carter (1995-2002).
