Lalique Designer P D’avesn / Daum French Art Deco Opaline Bowl:
Offered is a fine French Art Deco bowl of opaline glass by designer Pierre D’Avesn for Daum. D’Avesn was taught the art of glassmaking by Lalique, and went on to design some of that company’s most iconic pieces including the “Serpent” and “Tourbillon” vases. Between 1927 and 1932 D’Avesn was the design director for a subsidiary of Daum, Verreries D'Art Lorrain, and this feather motif bowl of opaline glass would date from that time. D'Avesn items are highly sought-after, not just for their design and quality, but also for D'Avesn's association with Lalique, and for the relative scarcity of items bearing his own name. Molded D’Avesn / Made In France mark inside foot ring. Excellent condition with no damage of any kind. Measures 5 1/4” (13.5 cm) diameter.
