Here is an opportunity to own a piece of Tiffany Studios history, after about 40 years of it in my possession its time to find a new home. If I still kept it displayed, I would\'ve had a professional clean it and make it more stunning but its been put away for years now and really just want it gone.
For your consideration, a monumental photograph frame in the grapevine pattern with stunning dichroic glass by Tiffany Studios New York.The largest of Tiffany’s picture frames, this particular model is a rather early example, not listed in later price guides from 1906 or 1915. While the monumental size and beaded grapevine filigree are eye-catching, it is the dichroic glass that truly sets this frame apart. Subtly highlighting the beautiful chestnut patina with a fairly uniform sea of celadon when viewed in ambient lighting, the glass work shows its true magnificence when a riot of yellows and browns is exposed by backlighting.The construction of frames lent itself to a wider breadth of creativity as they are easily backlit and transmit light well. This frame, with its classic colorations, large size, is the perfect culmination of all that is sought after in the world of Tiffany glass and desk sets.
The frame rests on a simple and sturdy bent bronze support that attaches to its back plate of matching fiery patination where the frame is properly signed “TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW YORK 916”.
Measures approximately 12 ¼” by 14 ¼” with an 8” by 10” photograph opening.
