JPEGbay.com - picture hostingAn absolutely outstanding quality carved Black Forest Swiss Mountain Dog mantle clock. This gorgeous Mountain Dog sits proudly on top of a beautifully carved rocky mountain in which the clock is housed. The whole piece is carved to the highest standards with the Mountain Dog carved to perfection and looking extremely realistic, having the sweetest big two toned glass eyes. You cannot help but fall in love with him. All of the fine details are truly amazing but this piece looks far better in real life than any picture can show.
The clock has the original Japy Freres 8 day bell strike movement and it keeps perfect time.
Quality Black Forest Dogs are hard to come by and even less common in the form of a clock. This carving could have been done by Walter Mader who was renowned for his quality dog carvings. There is also a possibility that this dog clock could have been carved by Hans Huggler-Blatter or Fuchs Melchior who also specialized in carving dogs.

DIMENSIONS: 19\" high, Base, 12.75\" wide, 6.5\" deep.
CONDITION: This Black Forest Dog Clock is in fantastic condition, the clock is in perfect working order and keeps very good time. There is one small wood split at the base of the door and the key is not the original. This is mentioned for total accuracy. Please see pictures.
PLEASE NOTE: I package every item extremely well and have not had any breakages to date but I do recommend posting via Royal Mail Special Delivery. This is the only UK service to offer protection for damage on ceramics and glass.
