This is a very beautiful antique Victorian Aesthetic movement Majolica glazed comport,dating from the 1880\'s.
The comport shows the Victorians interest in nature and all things Oriental at this period.The octagonal shape is divided into sections with branches,each containing raised wild fruit and blossom designs.The shape of the base shows a Chinese influence and is decorated with leaves.The colours of the Majolica are particularly lovely,deep turquoise with yellow ochre.
The comport is in very good antique condition with no chips,cracks or restoration,just some crazing to the glaze on the underside of the base,a couple look like hairlines but are just in the glaze.It has no makes mark just some numbers on the base.It measures 29 cms x 29 cms x 7.5 cms.
A very decorative Aesthetic Movement comport that would grace any collection.
