He was the son of Admiral George Stewart, 8th Earl of Galloway and Lady Jane Paget. He married Lady Harriett Blanche Somerset, daughter of Henry Charles Somerset, 6th Duke of Beaufort and Lady Charlotte Sophia Leveson-Gower, on the 9th August 1833.He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Kirkcudbrightshire between [1828-45]. He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Wigtonshire between [1828-51]. He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baron Stewart of Garlies, in the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright, the title of 9th Lord of Garlie, the title of 9th Earl of Galloway, the title of 8th Baronet Stewart, of Corsewell, the title of 7th Baronet Stewart, of Burray all on the 27th March 1834.Children of Randolph Stewart, 9th Earl of Galloway and Lady Harriett Blanche Somerset:-1.
