LARGE C1890 VICTORIAN 14K YELLOW GOLD & PIETRA DURA BROOCH OR PIN
listing is for a beautiful circa 1890’s, Victorian 14k yellow gold and pietra dura ladies pin or brooch. The face of the brooch measures 2 1/8 by 2 5/8 inches or 5.3 by 6.2 cm. It weighs, as a whole, 20.2 pennyweights of gold or 31.6 grams. The estimated gold weight is about 10 pennyweights.
The brooch features a beautiful pietra dura stone inlay as its main decoration. The inlay has a beautiful yellow rose and green leaves with smaller flower clustered around it in vibrant blues, white and deep reds. All of this is set into a black slate background. The gold frame around the inlay has a decorative twisted border. The clasp on the back is marked “14K”, it has been tested and is guaranteed to be 14K gold.
The overall condition is very good. There is one smallship in the slate by thetip of the white flower, very minor. Please see the many photographs.
