MAGNIFICENTLARGE CHINESE WUCAI PORCELAIN JAR

Superbexample of antique Chinese hand enameledporcelain. Exceptionally bold design depicting finely rendered natural imagery. The entire jar is encircled with a colorful variety of flowers and botanicals along with butterflies, birds, and lively animals.Greatattention to minute detail with individual leaves and petals, tiny flower buds, blades of grass, scrolling vines, and graphically depicted geometric fences. The neckis further banded round with intricate and spectacular flaming ruyi patterning. Hundreds of minute brush dots complete the artistic shading and add depth to the images. This exquisitejardiniere is of significant size, measuring approximately 10\" across and 9.75\" high, and is in excellent antique condition with just minor surface wear commensurate with age. Marked at theshoulder in underglaze blue with a six character Ming Wanli mark. As with most Chinese porcelains, we cannot be absolutely certain of the age because the marks were often also used later to honor the prior periods. The rarely seen quality is most certainlyquite impressive and the work of a talented artist. Magnificent from all the way across the room. An exquisite example of the refined artistry of Chinese wucai porcelain, and an outstanding centerpiece for the collector of the finest Chinese ceramics.
