Large Edwardian Hm Solid Silver Mounted 'glug Glug' Triple Spout Decanter - 1908:
A particularly large and handsome antique glass 'Glug Glug' decanter
featuring a solid silver English hallmarked mount and triple spout.
The novelty of the piece is that there are four columns surrounding
the central one, that the liquid travels up from the bottom resevoir to
the top, and it apparently produces a 'glug glug' noise. I haven't
actually used this decanter, as I wanted it dry for the pictures.Bears makers mark 'JG&S' for John Grinsell & Sons, the anchor for
Birmingham, lion denoting sterling silver, and date letter 'i' for 1908.
The hallmarks are rubbed, and there is a number stamped below -
'9859'.The decanter stands an impressive 32 cms tall and 11.4 cms across
Weighs 963g so postage expensive. There is no significant damage to the decanter other than a few
minor scratches. The interior is a little stained/cloudy in places.
The end of the stopper is chipped all over, but of course it is
hidden when the stopper is in position. The silver, other than the
rubbed hallmarks is fine, with only surface marks/scratches -
all commensurate with age/use and handling.A very impressive decanter that would adorn any setting.I have lots of interesting silver listed in my shop; please take a
