Large Egyptian Revival Art Deco Silver Enamel Buckle 1920 Lapis Scarab Beetle:
This is for a fabulous old art deco Egyptian revival buckle from the 1920s. Its a stunning looking piece with very vivid colour and a superb design. Its also a very sturdy feeling well made piece, perfectly capable of being used for the purpose for which it was made.It isfashioned as tomb entrances getting smaller as they go back with a central mummy and two attendants reaching over the last entrance...above the first entrance is a beautiful winged scarab, The colours are beautiful, all theframework iscobalt blue and white, classic Egyptian colours, and the winged scarab above is a lovely vivid green and blue. The actual beetle bodyin the centre has been carved from real Lapis Lazuli and there look to be variousdifferent enamel techniques used between the different areas of the piece, its a lovely, interesting, and very eye-catching old buckle.It carries a little silver mark on the back. It is a large functionalsize and measuring 71mm x 56mm. It is a single piece buckle, in other wordsit never had another half, there is a long bar at one side to attach the belt and at the other side a little loop to hold a little clip that would be on the other side of the belt.Please check out all the other antique smoking and writing implements, scientific and optical instruments, art deco and art nouveau items and all the other vintage ladies and gentlemans accessories we are selling on this week.
