This is for an unusually shaped Edwardian sterling silver desktop inkwell from 1903. It has astepped base, bell shaped well and finishes with a decorative little finial on the top. Thelid is hinged and inside it has its original little ceramic liner. The inkwell carries a clear set of English sterling silver hallmarks dating the inkwell to Sheffield 1903 along with the makers initials HE Ld for Hawksworth, Eyre & Co Ltd. It is also marked with the retailers Pearce & Sons which i believe were based inHuddersfield. The inkwellis inexcellent condition, theliner isthe original and fits perfectly, the hinge is tightwith no play, and there isonly very minimal wear,just a few little dings here and there....but overall it is very clean anddisplay's well. The basemeasures 120mm (4.75") square and it stands 90mm (3.75") tall.
