This is a genuine vintage brass companion set complete with a stable stand, which stands with the four tools approximately 27.0 inches high. The poker, tongs, shovel and brush are each approximately 20.0 inches long. The four tools and stand look to be in excellent condition for their age with only very light marking evident. The shovel does have some slight distortion to the scoop end but this is obviously commensurate with light use over the years. The underside of the shovel end is marked "Peerage England" as is the inside of the tongs. The underside of the stand tool hanger is also marked with a registration mark but again it is difficult to read (see photo 7). The stand has a large iron weight under the base giving the set when assembled very good stability. As well as displaying extremely well this set is also perfectly usable so it would make a superb addition to the larger working fireplace by providing both a functional as well as a decorative role.
