HE IS FROM A SMOKE FREE ENVIRONMENT!In 1953, Juan, Jose and Vicente Lladro started experimenting with porcelain, creating charming pieces in a small Moorish kiln in their home in Valencia, Spain. In 1958, the brothers decided to dedicate themselves solely to their porcelain work and opened up a warehouse in a neighboring town. It was here that they developed a special firing technique that created the signature pastel tones of Lladro pieces. Over the next few decades, the Lladro brand developed a strong following and was introduced all across the globe. The artistic vision of the Lladro brothers is still carried on. Every new Lladro sculpture and figurine captures the same charm and grace of the early works. After years of working to develop kilns capable of firing their porcelain art works, Lladro was founded in 1953 by three Spanish brothers, Jose, Juan and Vicente Lladro. Their firstretail storeopened in Valencia, Spain, in 1955, followed by the opening of their first factory in Tavernes Blanques in 1958. From these humble beginnings, Lladro has grown to be an internationally recognized porcelain company with retail stores all around the world.
Their factory at Tavernes Blanques, Spain, has grown into a complex known as "The Porcelain City" where the brothers established art workshops to train future Lladro artists and pass on their knowledge of producing incredible works of art. The Professional Training School, began in 1962, is still in operation today.
