London Underground Poster Map 1930:
This is an unusual Underground poster map from 1930.
Apart from having the usual poster maps of the lines and stations,
this one would run alongside and show instead a street map of London with the underground stations insitu on the map
(something last seen on Macdonald Gill 1914 Wonderland map of London) although there would be a few smaller versions like this afterwards in 1934 and 1937.
Map stretches from Wood Lane (West), Camden Town (North), Battersea Park (South) and Aldgate to the East.
Map opens out to 47.5 x 39 inches.
The main problem with this map is condition, with the original map having been backed onto brown paper to strengthen it at some time,
and both sides having tape repairs.Edges display signs of splits, fraying, loss to the original (where there is loss to writing on the outside,
someone has penned in the missing parts of the word), a large stain at Camden Town area and Brompton Road station receiving a cross (closed 1934)
and Dover Street station crossed through and “Green Park” written instead (original station closed and new station with renaming 1933).
In a fair to poor condition and not really for framing, but would look good on a bare brick wall in its state.
