Lovely 1910-1920s Quilt~postage Stamp Design~williamsburg Blue Chambray & White~ For Sale
This is a sweet little quilt which I would date from about 1910 to 1920s. This light to medium weight quilt, the "Postage Stamp" pattern, measures approximately 85 inches by 68 inches. It is hand pieced and hand quilted with approximately 5 stitches per inch. The stamps each measure approximately 1.5 inches and are entirely hand pieced.....wow! The color combination is very striking with alternating Williamsburg blue chambray and solid white cotton fabrics.
The back of the quilt is of the same white fabric as used for the solid white on the front. The separate white 1/2 inch wide binding is both hand stitched to the front and to the back. I saw no damage to the binding....it's in great shape.
This is a lovely soft quilt with no damage noted on the front or the back....no stains, spots, holes, or fabric pops were seen. I have checked this quilt over very carefully, but sometimes with a busy pattern I could have overlooked something very minor that didn't pop out at me.
I have carefully laundered this quilt and it will come to you from a smoke free home....it's ready for immediate use.
