Lovely Antique Solid Silver Coin Ashtray 1795 Hallmarked Sterling Very Rare Nr:
LOVELY ANTIQUE Solid Silver COIN ASHTRAY 1795 Hallmarked STERLING VERY RARE NR
Spanish Colonial - 8 Real Carolus IIII Coin - MEXICO
This is a very attractive and most unusual ANTIQUE solid sterling silver ashtray that was made in London, England in about 1912 by the illustrious Victorian silversmiths, Alexander Clark & Company at their Fenchurch Street workshops. It has, to the centre, a silvercoin, known as an 8 REAL Spanish (Hispan) colonial coin because it circulated freely in the many New World colonies of Spain. This coin from Mexico carries the distinctive oM mint mark -- a small 'o' set over a large 'M'. King Charles (Carolus) of Spain shows on the front of the coin. Carolus IIII (or IV) reigned from 1788 to 1808. The back of this coin has a crowned shield and two large pillars on either side. It also has the Assayers Initials, FM. The ashtray measures 3 3/4" in diameter, is NOT engraved and stands 1/2" tall. It weighs62.9 grams -over 2troy oz.
It is in very good condition with less than the usual surface scratching, no splits or dents and just a few dings - SUPERB. It is hallmarked ACCo and STERLING. I have shown the hallmarks so that you can make up your own mind. A really rare and unusual MEXICAN coin ashtray. Postage will be 3.50GBP both within the UK and to international destinations.
Please note that the primary postage costs are for second class (or standard parcels service if the postage cost is over 6.00GBP) within the UK or surface mail to international destinations. First class post usually adds 50% to the quoted postage cost while airmail is typically double the cost of surface mail. If you want to know about the timescales and charges by Royal Mail then I suggest you look at http://www.royalmail.com. Please wait for my invoice with postage options that will be sent very soon after the sale finishes!
