Description A beautiful antiqueEnglish solid sterling silver sovereign case decorated with attractive floral and scroll engraving, by the silversmithsE JHoulstonand with English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1909. Excellent quality Edwardian example with a sprunghinged lid, an interior sprung silver coin plate and with its original hallmarked silver bow, (ring).Has a "shield" cartouche on the front with no engraved monograms or crests.
Measurements Measures approx 1.8 inches (46mm) (including bow) x 1.2 inches (30mm) and is 0.65 inches (16mm) deep.
Date Antique English solid sterling silver with a full set of silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1909 (date letter "k"). Also stamped on the coin plate, the coin plate casing, the bale ring and the stem too.
Maker Silversmiths initials "E J H" (E J Houlston).
Condition Good condition and a nice genuineEnglish Edwardianexample.No splits or cracks, no solder repairs and no nasty knocks or dents either, a few tiny little shallow surface bruises, but really nothing much. The sprung lid hinge worksperfectly and the lid springs opens and closes tightly. The sprung coin plate isin good working order too. Beautiful engraved case and with no monograms in the cartouche, always a big bonus.
