Large Antique C.1900 French Art Nouveau Henri Ple Woman Bronzed Spelter Statue:
Up for offers is this large Antique C.1900 French Art Nouveau Henri Ple Woman Bronzed Spelter Statue. This large statue is done after Henri Ple's work and is titled Fleur de Eau which translates to Water Flower. The woman is wearing a scantily clad dress with roses in her long flowing hair and a rose bud in her right hand. She is barefootand seated on a flower covered plinth on it's original marble base which is exceptionally nice because many of these statues are on inferior wooden bases.
There is the original brass title plaque that reads, " FLEAUR D' EAU" Par H Ple Sculptr. On the bottomside of the pieceis the artists name, Henri Ple.
Condition: This piece is in excellent condition with no breaks or repairs. The original two toned bronze finish, is used to emphasize her skin separate from her clothing. There are two very minor chips to the marble base and do not detract from the piece at all.
Measurements: 35" high x 13 1/2" wide with a base diameter of 11".
This is a very large, impressive decorativepiece and very finely cast.
