Large Beatrice Wood Studio Pottery Pot w Crackle Glaze MINT Mid Century Modern
This straight sided pot was made in the early years of Beatrice Wood's career. It was purchased directly from the artist by Elizabeth Wilbur Stewart in 1940, who was a lifelong friend. Please enlarge my last photo to read the Clars sale catalog listing for this piece. It was hand thrown from a whitish clay, then glazed a matte blue color on the outside, with a dark blue spiraling stripe. The top rim was glazed a blended glossy green color, which drips down the sides. There is an intentional crackle effect to the glaze, inside and out, but not on the bottom. The bottom is signed "BEA", one of her earlier marks. This is in superb condition...no chips, hairlines, stains or repairs. Measuring about 6" tall, this will weigh 4.5 pounds when double boxed for shipment. You may choose from two different priced mailing options, or you may pick this up in San Francisco.
