I purchased this beautifully carved German Black Forest Hunter Cuckoo Clock in an estate sale about five years ago. It is an 8-day clock that cuckoos on the half hour and hour. It is a large clock measuring 24” in height (from the tip of the antlers to the bottom of the clock) and 14” wide (across its widest point). The clock runs well, keeping accurate time. It needs cleaning on the outside but I will leave that to the new owner since I don't know the best way to do that to protect the beautiful carved wood. I have photographed the interior of the clock so you can judge for yourself the interior condition. Looks clean inside to me but I am not familiar enough to know what to look for other than that; however, the fact that it runs well and keeps accurate time probably speaks to its interior condition. There is a marking on the metal inside which I think is Schmeckenbecher. I've attached a photo of the marking but it is quite hard to read; although, someone familiar with the markings will probably be able to determine if I've read it correctly by looking at the photograph.The back of the clock is marked 12 – 80, West Germany, 8 Day. One of the S hooks that attaches the weights to the chain has been replaced with a hook made from wire. The other S hook is in place. I've examined the clock closely and it looks very good to me. I've attached close ups so you can examine it as well. There is a blunt corner just above the pheasant and I've tried to determine if the corner is chipped or blunted that way when it was carved. I've examined the pictures of other similar clocks and I think it is a design feature but I've attached a closeup of the area so you can make your own determination. Very niceclock!
