Early 20th century German copper charger or wall hanging plaque depicting a biblical passage (Mark 4:36).The or"Security in the storm."(Mark 4:36) Jesus and His disciples are crossing the Sea of Galilee in a boat when a great storm arises. Unmoved, Jesus sleeps in the back of the boat until the men, terrified, wake Him. A few words from Jesus and all is well again, accompanied by the quiet question 'where is your faith, men?'imageis generally credited to the Hungarian engraver, Christian Hermann Roth, from the 3rd quarter of the 17th century.the piece has strong Ottoman influences but most likely was made in Germany around 1920. It is molded in copper, with a dark patina. The piece has fine and elaborate modeling and is a beautiful melding of Eastern design with a classical Western motif.Piece measures 17 inches diameter piece in good condition some surface tarnishing mostly to the reverse of the plate.
