Nice early example of the French or English navy officer's dirk, of a quite substantial size, having a strong double edged blade of diamond section exhibiting heavy patina and fine pitting throughout. Brass hilt mounts retaining about half of their original gold gilt finish with average age wear, nice large grip of carved ebony, all solid and intact on this scarce oversized example from Napoleonic wars era.overall 18" blade 14 1/2".
