Large Ooak Primitive Punch Needle Rabbit Pillow Antique Hooked Rug Style Nr For Sale
Up for your consideration today is larger-size punch needle rabbit pillow that I made myself. The design is kind of a hybrid between my own original work and an 1800'shooked rug currently in the collection of the Textile Museum of Canada. ( The old rug has two rabbits, without tails, and a stripey hit and miss style background instead of the greens and browns that I have here). I used 6 strands of cotton floss and and some 3 strand Valdani to work the embroidery, then aged it in walnut stain for an extra primitive look. It was hand stitched to a brown herringbone wool backing and finished off with a generous amount of dark brown Icelandic wool yarn, held in place with primitive style whip stitches. Filling is natural cotton batting and quality fiber fill. A little canvas tag on the back gives my initials and the year of creation.
Measures about 11.25 inches long and 9.25 inches long. It is certainly the largest needle punch that I have ever made, and would look great displayed on a shelf, cabinet, or small chair! If using this as a "regular" pillow I would recommend placing it in a low traffic area and spot cleaning only. Please view all photos before offerding and message me through if you have any questions! The pillow is more rectangular in person.
