Offered for your consideration today is an Original 24" Antique Plaster Chalkware Nativity Set

18 piece Crechewith3 piece Wood Stable

Set consists of the Holy Family, Angel,3 Wisemen, 2 Shepards, 1 Flutist, Camel Driver, Camel, Donkey, Ox, Ram and 3 Sheep

From my research I believe this large nativity set dates from the early 1900's and can be attributed to the Daprato Rigali Studios orthe Joseph Poli Studios

This set has been in the family for many years and I remember hearing at one point in time that it came from a department store window display in Philadelphia

Plaster statues range in size from the largest being 27 1/2" down to 7 1/2" in height

Each statue shows different degrees of damage from its years of being displayed and storage

Some pieces show some rust bleeding through the plaster from their metal reinforcment

All pieces are a solid plaster mold with the exception of Mary, Joseph, the Redand Blue Robed Kings which are hollow

Baby Jesus and his manger areone solid mold and measure approximately 13 1/2 inches in length, 9 1/2 inches in width and 7 inches in heigth at the tallest point

Bottom backside of the manger is marked 628 1/2

Mary and Joseph stand 21 inches in height, Camel stands 26 inches in height by 19 inches in length, Angel is 27 1/2 in height by 19 1/2 inches in width

Sheep range in size from 7 1/2 - 10 inches in heightand have leather ears

Ox, Ram and Donkey range in size from 9 - 13 inches in height

3 Wisemen range in size from 14 - 22 inches in height

2 Shepards, Camel Driver and Flutist range in size from 23 - 25 1/2 inches in height

Set comes with a 2 piece painted folding wood stableand a folding wood thatched roof

Stable stands an impressive 5' 7 inches in height, 5' wide, and 30 inches in depth

Side pieces of wood stable have window cut-outs and middle section has a detailed painting of Bethlehem

Front side of stable has an attachable section painted to look like trees that secures to the stable with eye hooks

Middle backside of stable has older wiring andoutletsthat need to be rewired

Roof is constructed from small bamboo like strips of wood, wooven together with twine and secured to wood laths

Wood strips and twine show some loss, fraying and roof has some loose weaving

Folding roof is 6' 6 inches in width by 39 inches in depth
