Large SIGNED German Whistler KARL GRIESBAUM Music Box DRUNK Automaton Man WORKS!
Offered for sale is this vintage Karl Griesbaum automaton of a whistling drunk leaning against a lamp post. It works, and I've put a video of the actual automaton in this sale in the listing. I don't have the original key. When I bought it 2 corroded D cells were in the base, and there is no bulb in the lamp post - I do not know if the lamp works. The inside of the figure and the backs of both covers are all numbered "47" - all the original pieces.
SIZE: The automaton is approximately 18.25 inches tall to the top of the lamp post.
CONDITION: It works as you can see in the video. I don't see any damage to the carved figure. There are some paint rubs on the base. There is corrosion inside the battery compartment, and the wood battery compartment cover is split in two. There is no damage to the glass in the lamp post. The metal of the lamp post is a little tarnished. Please see the close up pictures.
MARKS: Karl Griesbaum marks on the metal lamp post, the battery cover, and the back cover as shown.
