The Large Serving Knife is 13½ Inches Long, the Fork is 9½ Inches Long and they have an Overall Weight of almost 11 Ounces
The Handles and Blades are Made in Fully Hallmarked English Sterling Silver
The Handles are High Rococo Style and the Blade and Tines have a Beautifully Engraved Flower and Leaf Design and Intricate Pierce Work
A Fine Armorial Crest of the Abbot Family is Engraved on the Handles
Here is a top quality pair of large Victorian Table Serving Pieces made by the famous Birmingham silversmith, John Gilbert.
The Serving Knife is 13½ long (34.5 cms), the Serving Fork is 9½ inches long (23.5 cms) and they have an overall weight of almost 11 ounces (303 grams).
This unusual pattern makes a strong statement and will be a fine addition to any table service.
This beautiful Table Serving Set was made in 1862, the blade, tines and handles all in fully hallmarked English Sterling Silver.
The Knife blade and Fork tines are engraved with a twining scroll and leaf design which complements the strong nineteenth century high rococo style handles.
A fine armorial crest of the Abbot family, a vested arm holding a crescent, is beautifully engraved on the front of the handles.
The Table Serving Knife and Fork are in excellent condition, with some light wear consistent with their age and usage – see photographs.

This handsome Table Serving Set is in lovely condition with no damage or repairs.
The clear, sharp hallmarks shown above are the maker’s mark “JG” for the famous silversmith, John Gilbert, the lion passant guarantee mark for English sterling silver, the anchor town mark for Birmingham, the letter “N” the date letter for 1862 on the knife and the letter “O” on the fork the date letter for 1863 and the duty mark the head of Queen Victoria.
