Hi, on offer is aLarge Piece of Exotic Stingray Hidewhich is also known as Shagreen . The hide has only been cleaned, bleached and driedand had not been tanned. It is exactly as was used on Samurai Swordsand is the ideal material for restoring or reproducing implements of this period. Each piece measures a minimum of10 inches wide and vary between18 to20 inches long, the dimensions being taken through the centre of the hide. This hide type is what is known as a round hide.

Stingray Hide or Shagreen has been used for many purposes over the centuries including the decoration ofboxes,scientific instruments and also Furniture. Nowadays it is also being used for making trendy jewellery and accesories. As mentioned this hide has not been tanned and when you receive it, it will be quite stiff and curved, it can be flattened and worked easily when it is dampened.

This sale is for one piece of hide, offers will be considered for a minimum of 3 hides.
