Late 1800's Hard Cover Illustrated Stamp Album - Extremely Rare - Good Condition For Sale
You are offerding on a very rare and unusual item - an illustrated stamp album from the late 1800's. There is no date stated in the album, and there is a dedication dated 1923, but I suspect that this was at a time the album had been given to a second generation. I have checked the stamps illustrated in the album and have not found any to be from the 1900's, although I did not check every country.The album was made in Germany and provides information in English, French and German. The album is hard cover, about 7-1/2 by 10-3/4 inches. The album has 75 pages.The condition is quite good considering the age of the album. The covers show their age, with a fair amount of wear especially on the corners, and a coffee cup ring stain on the back cover. The pages are quite yellow, with a number of corner creases. The album had been used at a one time, prior to modern hinges. The stamps were removed, but each space that contained a stamp has a part of a paper hinge commonly used in those days.This is truly a very rare and unique item, a real addition for a truly serious collector.
