Led Zeppelin autographed Led Zeppelin I album by all four original members including John Bonham. I have never seen a fully signed Led Zeppelin album in such pristine condition in my almost 40 years of collecting.
The album was signed on November 29th 1971 at Liverpool Stadium in Liverpool England while the band were on tour to promote their newly released Led Zeppelin IV album, which was just released on November 8th of that same month.
I must point out that this album was signed when Led Zeppelin were on their way to superstardom and becoming the biggest band in the world and not posthumously….To me as a collector, it is so important to have something from when an artist/artists were in their prime and most important…It\'s AUTHENTIC.
Led Zeppelin signed albums are rarer than Beatles albums….They didn\'t do signings like The Beatles….It was a different era, people for the most part weren\'t looking to get autographs (it wasn\'t cool) and they especially didn\'t bring records with them to concerts…. Add to the fact that fan access to band like Led Zeppelin was extremely limited due to the blanket of security they toured with….Unless you were a female….There are 24 known authentic signed Led Zeppelin by all four members (with John Bonham) in existence and a good part of them have conditionsissues…This signed Led Zeppelin I record is in the top five condition wise…The signatures are bold and crisp,to smeared or sloppy and the record cover is in Excellent condition and notsoiled,pitted,torn,creased,or any paper/laminate loss.
Update: I sold the signed Led Zeppelin II record that I had for sale on here a few months ago,to a private collector for just under $25,000.The value of this extremely rare signed record is onlygoing to go higher….A fantastic investment piece,of the greatest and most influential band in rock music ever….There will never be another Led Zeppelin!
The signatures are bold and clear (see scans), with Jimmy Page signing the front cover and John Paul Jones, Robert Plant and John Bonham signing on the rear album cover (record not included). *Note: Scan #3 is a mock up to give you an idea of how it can be framed, the actual record sleeve is intact. I personally would leave it as is and frame it in extra thick plexiglass and rotate it in a display case with a light fixture.
The albums cover was chosen by Jimmy Page,which he was very proud of and probably the reason he boldly signed it. The photo is of the Hindenburg airship crashing and burning and refers to the origin of the bands name,when Page, Jeff Beck and The Who\'s Keith Moon were discussing forming a band….Moon joked that it probably go over like a lead balloon,to which John Entwistle allegedly replied….A Lead Zeppelin. They a was dropped to avoid confusion which the name. The rear cover photograph was taken by former Yardbird Chris Dreja.
Comes with rather humorous a letter of provenance from the person who originally obtained the autographs and how she got the album signed by the band and a certificate of authenticity.
Again, this album was signed in November of 1971, when Led Zeppelin IV just came out and they were on their way to becoming the biggest rock band in the world.
I know I used this term before in a few of my other listings, but what can I say, it is what it is when it\'s a fact…..Which is this Led Zeppelin signed album from 1971, is a true holy grail for the Led Zeppelin collector.
