Leonard Model 50 ½ Df Bamboo Fly Rod – No Reserve For Sale
In spectacular condition, 8 ½’ 3/2, this pre-fire rod sports RH twist guides, cap and ring seat which is inscribed “Tournament” as well as the usual Leonard die stamp. 3/8” cork rings on the grip and the bushing appears to be butternut. Features white agate stripping guide and tip guides. The ferrules have the Leonard patent information. 4 ¼ ounces, I liked it with a 5 line. Action is on the slow side and classic. All sections are full length, straight and tight. The small diameter of the tip guides would likely prohibit the use of a loop to loop leader to line connection but I used a nail knot and a modern 5 line without problem. If you have a silk line, all the better. One ferrule wrap has been professionally replaced by Steve Blake, otherwise all original with proper tube. Bag may or may not be original, I just don’t know. .
