Leopards Baboon & Monkey, Spectacular Huge Double-folio 1870s Antique Print:
This is my favoriteleopard print in my collection! It is spectacular and huge.
You are offerding on a huge original antique print from an 1870s illustrated journal.
It depicts two tigers in their lair with a cattle skull. They are in high alert, watching solders / explorers passing by. Monkeys and babboons also watch.Just gorgeous.
It is very large (double elephant folio size), measuring approximately 21 x 16 inches (53 x 40.5 cm). The picture fills most of the page, with a caption below.
The caption reads:In the EnemiesCountry-- drawn by B. Goddard.
The print hastwo verticalfolds in the middle, where it was folded into the magazine long ago. Note that the fold lines are clean and undamaged, because it was "tipped" into the binding. This was a luxury binding technique of that era, because the double page prints were free of binding holes down the center.
The back of the print is blank. This means it was likely a “special supplement” to the journal, making it especially rare.
PLEASE NOTE there is a tear on the left margin that reaches just to the edge of the picture. It could be repaired on the back with archival tape. Also, above the picture in the white margin area there is a wrinkle along the fold line. This could be trimmed out without effecting the picture. See scan for an accurate view of the condition.
This is GENUINE antique/vintage item. It is not a modern reproduction.
