Blue target cancel. Well preserved. Contains a letter to Brig. General John F. Miller while he was actively serving in the Union Army. The letter is concerning the loss of Miller's eye during battle and is requesting back pay. Here is a link to the Wikipedia page concerning Miller went on to become a U.S. Senator from California.
This is one of four letters to Miller that I have listed for sale. I havetwo that were sent to him while he was still a civilian atty. I have this one that he received while an active duty Union General andanother that was mailed to him after the war but before he was elected Senator concerning the upcoming elections in California.
