I'll be listing several Lionel SG trains over the next few weeks.. I am strictlya POST WAR collector. My knowlege of pre-war SG is extremely limited. These items were aquired from the original owner's widow. He collected antique radios and picked up trains over the years/ His original childhood set will also be listed. IMPORTANT:These pieces ARE NOT collector grade, were notwell taken care of,and all have issues, including but not limited to rust, missing trim, etc. I will describe them as best I can. They are being sold AS FOUND, AS IS with no return. I'll start off with the 400E Blue Comet with nickel trimand Tender. Appears to beoriginal WITH THE FOLLOWING ISSUES: Engine number board missing on one side-The front area(platform)over the pilot/cow catcher is broken off. I have a couple of the broken pieces for what it's worth.(No cow catcher)(see pix 7) Some rust on the top of the cab(pix 6). The tender is in nice shape and comes with original box-fairly solid, missing one end flap. Please study the pix. A great candidate for a 'shelve filler' or restoration. If you have any questions, please ask BEFORE offerding..Again, I am nota pre-war collector but will answeras best as I can. Someone has asked me if the engine was 're-wheeled' and if it ran...Honest answer..I seriously doubt it but would not know for certain regarding the wheels and have no way of testing the engine. Again, Appears to be completely orig. At any rate, if purchased for operating, I'm sure a good servicing would be in order..Thx!
