Production sample parts acquired at sale of Dick Kughn’s Lionel/Madison Hardware archives items in early 2000’s. Includes 3 diecast sockets that sit on top of post. There is some gold paint indicating change areas, corresponding to dab of gold on worn envelope, included. 2 look like they are right from the mold, without cleaning of flash or opening of bottom hole. 3rd has the hole tooled/opened and flash cleaned. Samples were used to check production for compliance with specifications. Envelope is dated 1950. This original archives group was in one of large OD metal drawers that samples were stored in at Lionel. Photo of 2 of the Lionel archives drawer-bins is shown for reference, drawer is not included in the listing.
