Lockheed In-house P-80 Shooting Star Metal Factory Desk Model P-80a :
I’m continuing to thin out my 30+ year collection of military aviation memorabilia, and have another piece right out of the display cabinet up for sale this week – an original Lockheed P-80 Shooting Star.
With an approx. 8” length long overall (stand include) and a 5” wingspan, this all metal P-80 model was probably produced in-house by Lockheed for a variety of occasions.
The desk model stands approx. 4” tall, and for its size, weighs a hefty 1 lb. The weighted base polishes up nicely and has brown felt underneath,
There is some slight decal loss to the upper wing star-and-bar insignia and slight chipping to the paint on the tip of the nose and underside of the nose, but really nothing that a modeler couldn’t touch-up.
All of the large aviation companies including Bell, Boeing, Convair, Douglas, Fairchild, General Dynamics, Lockheed, Martin, McDonnell, North American, Northrop, and Republic, had desk and ashtray models produced as give-away items to promote their aircraft. Companies such as Aero Novelty, Bronzart, Fomaer, Pacific Miniatures / Pacmin, Precise, Raise-Up, Rehberger, Rolen, Topping, and Verkuyl produced plastic or resin models for the military and civilian airliner market. With the passage of time, many of these vintage models have become extremely rare and are much sought after by collectors today.
High buyer to pay through PayPal, and the F-105 model will be sent to US buyers via USPS Priority Mail. For shipping, and to avoid the potential for damage, I’ll remove the model from the stand.
Good luck with your offerding, and please feel free to email me with any questions or if more photos are needed.
