Lot 4 Inlaid Wood Marquetry Art Inlay Signed Kenneth T Arnold Picture Tree For Sale
This lot contains 4 wood inlay marquetry art pieces that I got at an sale. Up until I did a little research on the internet I had no idea what "marquetry" is, so if you have any questions please email me. The 4 pieces are all approximately 9" by 12" and are flat, like a plaque, but are made to look like there is a frame around the main picture. They appear to be scenes looking into the horizon from a country road. It looks like two are from the perspective of one side of a large tree and two are from the other side. Also, on the set where the tree is on the right side of the road, one of them has leaves on the trees and the other doesn't have leaves on the trees but there is snow on the ground so I guess one is that spot in the summer and one is the winter. They are signed with a "KA" in the bottom right corner and on the back they are stamped "Otway Ohio Art 45657 Marquetry by Kenneth T. Arnold". I Googled Kenneth T Arnold and it appears that he has been doing these for a while and as recently as last year still appears at various craft fairs in Ohio and other places. I'm not sure when these were done, but I would guess the 1970's or 80's. The "hanger" on the back looks like the tab off of a soft drink can, back when the tabs were made so you could pull the whole tab out of the can. It is attached with a small screw. The condition of these is not bad but if you look at them closely under a light you can see that they all have some scratching in basically the same area from where they were obviously stacked on each other and that hanger on the back moved around and scratched them. If they are hanging on the wall it is very hard to notice, but if you look under a lamp it is very easy to see the scratches so keep this in mind when offerding. One of them has a couple small white spots on the outer left edge, as seen in the picture. As I have said, I really don't know anything about this form of art so check the pictures and email with any questions. Shipping, handling is 10.50.
