Lot Of 3 Early Daredevil #22-26-29 Vg 1966 Marvel Silver Age Stan Lee Gene Colan For Sale
Here’s a terrific lot of 3 Early Marvel Silver Age DAREDEVIL Comics, all in the VERY GOOD range. All have small defects, so please read the descriptions carefully and scroll down for plenty of pictures. You get:
(1) DAREDEVIL #22, November 1966. Featuring Tri-Man [1st; Tri-Android]; The Mangler (1st); The Dancer (1st); The Brain (1st). Stan Lee, Gene Colan. Marvel Silver Age. Rough spot with ½" tear at upper right quarter front cover (in the yellow just above the black circle); small spot of color loss in the “I” of “Daredevil,” front cover. Corner bump with creasing lower right front cover. Dealer’s stamp first interior page. Colors show good reflectivity; no staple rust.
(2) DAREDEVIL #26, March 1967. Featuring Stilt-Man. Stan Lee, Gene Colan. Marvel Silver Age. Moderate wear indicating several readings; creasing along spine, corner and edge wear. Dealer’s stamp and a 1½" tear at bottom of first interior page (consistent with VG grade). Colors show good reflectivity; no staple rust.
(3) DAREDEVIL #29, June 1967. Stan Lee, Gene Colan. Marvel Silver Age. Top staple missing (printer’s error; never was present). Modest cover wear, mainly in the form of a horizontal crease down center of front cover and bumping with crease lower right. Tiny ½" tear to right center front cover. Colors show good reflectivity; light pages; no staple rust. As the missing staple is an obvious printer’s error this comic is consistent with the VG grade.
I have MORE DAREDEVIL and other SILVER AGE TREASURES listed this week and every week, and I COMBINE SHIPPING whenever possible. Please click the button on the scroll bar above that says “Click here to browse all my items.” Thanks!
PLEASE NOTE: I am NOT an expert in comic grading. I rely on the Overstreet criteria reprinted below and describe the comics I post to the best of my ability, pointing out any imperfections that I see. Overall I tend to judge them rather strictly -- just like I'd want them to be judged if I were the buyer. Please refer to pictures for more info on condition and ask all questions BEFORE offerding.
All comics BAGGED and BOARDED.
REMINDER: Please submit payment within three days after receiving my invoice. We do our part; please do yours for a smooth experience.
CANADIAN buyers: PLEASE CONTACT ME REGARDING SHIPPING CHARGES AND EXCLUSIONS.
THANKS FOR LOOKING!
COMIC BOOK GRADING DEFINITIONS (based on the Overstreet Guide)
VERY FINE. An excellent copy with a limited accumulation of minor bindery/printing defects allowed. Cover relatively flat with minimal surface wear; possibly minute wear at corners. Inks generally bright with moderate to high reflectivity. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. Minor foxing. Spine is almost completely flat with a possible minor color break. Staples may show some discoloration. Very slight staple tears and a few almost insignificant stress lines may be present. Paper cream to tan and supple. Centerfold mostly secure. Minor interior tears at the margin may be present.
FINE. An above-average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with no significant creasing or other serious defects. Some accumulation of minor bindery/printing defects allowed. Minor cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases. Inks show a significant reduction in reflectivity. Blunted corners are more common, as is minor staining, soiling, discoloration, and/or foxing. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. Minor spine roll allowed. There can also be a 1/4” spine split or severe color break. Staples may show minor discoloration. Minor staple tears and a few slight stress lines may be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is tan to brown and fairly supple with no signs of brittleness. Minor interior tears at the margin may be present. Centerfold may be loose.
VERY GOOD. The average used comic book. Cover shows moderate to significant wear, and staples may be loose but not completely detached. Cover reflectivity is low. Can have moderate creases or dimples. Corners may be blunted. Store stamps, name stamps, arrival dates, initials, etc. have no effect on this grade. Some discoloration, fading, foxing, and even minor soiling is allowed. As much as a 1/4” triangle missing from corner or edge, or a missing 1/8” square is acceptable. Only minor unobtrusive tape and other amateur repair allowed on otherwise high grade copies. Moderate spine roll may be present and/or a 1” spine split. Staples may be discolored. Minor to moderate staple tears and stress lines may be present, as well as some rust migration. Paper is brown but not brittle. Minor to moderate interior tears may be present. Centerfold may be loose or detached at one staple.
GOOD. Shows substantial wear; often considered a “reading copy.” Cover shows significant wear and may even be detached. Cover reflectivity is low and in some cases absent. Book-length creases and dimples may be present. Rounded corners are more common. Moderate soiling, staining, discoloration and foxing may be present. The largest piece allowed missing from the front or back cover is usually a 1/2” triangle or a 1/4” square, although some Silver Age books such as 1960s Marvels have had the price corner box clipped from the top left front cover and may be considered Good if they would otherwise have graded higher. Tape and other forms of amateur repair are common in Silver Age and older books. Spine roll likely. May have up to a 2” spine split. Staples may be degraded, replaced or missing. Moderate staple tears and stress lines may be present, as well as rust migration. Paper is brown but not brittle. Centerfold may be loose or detached. Moderate interior tears may be present.
FAIR. Shows heavy wear. Cover may be detached, and inks have lost all reflectivity. Creases, tears and/or folds are prevalent. Corners rounded or absent. Soiling and staining present. Up to 1/4 of the front cover may be missing, or no back cover, but not both. Tape repairs and spine roll common; spine split can extend up to 2/3 the length of the book. Staples may be missing or show rust and discoloration; staple tears, stress lines and rust migration may be present. Paper is brown and may show brittleness around the edges but not in the central portion of the pages. Accumulation of interior tears. Chunks may be missing. The centerfold may be missing if readability is generally preserved. Coupons may be cut.
