Lot Of 6 Photos - Ca. 1930s Howard County, Texas Wildcat Oil Field Workers Drill:
Lot of 6 ca. 1930s snapshot photographs taken by unidentified photographer in Howard County, Texas. One of the photographs shows that it was processed by the Fox Company in San Antonio, Texas. None of the others show this imprint.....the back side is blank on all but the imprinted photograph. The sign that is visible in the third scan shows two men standing on either side. The sign reads as follows: "Schermerhorn Winton Co. KLOH Lease, etc., etc. in Glasscock County. 240 Acres." Another sign visible in the fourth scan reads "Schermerhorn Winton Co., etc., etc. Howard Co. Tex." Howard County borders Glasscock County on the north. So, there is no doubt that all of these photographs were taken in Texas during the old wildcatting days of oil exploration. These locations are not far from present Midland, Texas where an oil boom today is in full swing. Some of these oldphotographs show management types and others show the "roughnecks" who did the actual work of drilling for oil. Overall Excellent Condition and Guaranteed Original.
